construction du Jardin Botanique de Montréal situé
au 4101 Est, rue Sherbrooke débute en 1932. La décoration
artistique est confiée à Joseph Guardo, sculpteur. Sa participation
dure jusqu`en 1939.
Le travail comprend: pilastres; bandes et motifs ornementaux pour fenêtres et montants; vases; modèles décoratifs pour la fonderie; chapiteaux; anges avec horloge pour cheminée; et les panneaux octogonaux ci-dessous. Un total de 870 heures de travail. |
The
construction of the Montreal Botanical Gardens located at 4101 Sherbrooke
Street East began in 1932. The artwork entrusted to Sculptor Joseph Guardo
was begun in September 1932 and continued until April of 1939.
The work included pilasters, ornamental bands and motifs for windows and posts, urns, decorative models for the foundry, capitals, a clock with cherubs for a mantelpiece, and the octagonal panels shown below. The whole represents a total of 870 hours of work. |
